funkn' friday funtastic!!

soccer

i went to my first night of soccer training last night. There was only three from our team because the coach had said he wasn't coming because it was raining - there was maybe four specks of rain the whole night. We ended up training with another team which was good, except for the run at the beginning. I can run in short burst but not a lap around an oval.
all in all in was a fun night. except Kath from our team hurt her leg so had to sit out most of the training.
after training i was feeling a bit sore and can definately feel it this morning. i guess thats what you get after not doing any proper exercise for so long. i hope i get used to it soon.
there is training thursday night but i had already said i would do childcare that night so can't go. first game is on sunday and the people i know will be away so i'll be playing for the first time with people i haven't met or trained with. oh well, maybe i can just fill a space on the field and look like i know what i am doing.
the team is the New Lambton Eagles. and we wear blue shorts. hot.

i saw brokeback mountain on thursday night - it only just arrived in newcastle.
i recommend everyone see's it. it's possibly the most beautiful film i've ever seen, well out of the ones i can remember right now.

there is a vege garden next to it - as you can see above. it has heaps of stuff...it has spinach, beetroot, onions, lots of herbs, celery, tomatoes, sweet peas, comfrey, corn and that's about it at the moment but there are lots of seedlings to be put in she's a hardcore gardener - she does it barefoot and doesn't ever wear gloves. it's a beautiful garden.

today will be another day of work. downstairs Ami is planning to rip up the carpet, so myself and some other friends are going to help her. we have to move all the furniture out - which will be difficult because it's raining so we can't just put it on the grass outside. then we have to rip up the carpet which will be a very dusty, sneezy job as she has three cats and a dog. after that we have to sand it, vacumn and then paint on the polish stuff, which takes four days to dry.....phew...long day ahead.

sun prints

i'm at tafe and it's workshop week - that is why i am able to come to the library and blog, it's all very laid back.
I did a pin hole camera workshop for monday and tuesday while was good but i already knew how to do it all so i didn't feel like i was really learning anything new, except for using the 5x4 enlarger, but it's basically the same as the 35mm ones.
i took yesterday off, there were lectures on but sometimes you just don't feel like being around people so i went home and cleaned up a bit. i cleaned the kitchen and my room, and also did a couple of loads of washing. it's nice to have things tidy. i have decided that i'm going to go through my room and chuck away anything that i haven't used/needed/seen in more then three months. it will be a big and tough job but i think it's something i need to do.
oh, back to workshop week... Today and tomorrow i am doing a sun prints workshop, which is another photography one. it's a really cool method using a UV sensitive emulsion and any sort of thickish paper. you paint on the emulsion which is yellow and then place either a transperency with an image on it, objects or whatever you want really, and then take it out into the sun where the uv reacts with the emulsion. you leave it there for about 15minutes or until the emulsion goes a dark blue/grey and then take it back inside and wash the excess emulsion off. i'll post some pics of the results when i get a chance.

i got a soldering iron today...it's brilliant.
i've been soldering stencils in x-ray film and drawing dead stick figures in wood. mmmn..gotta love that burnt plastic and wood smell.

Q Carnival

Last night i went to the Q Carnival at Morrow Park Bowlo. Amanda and i got there at about 5/6ish and listened to some pretty good acoustic type music, including stuff by my friend Shana. After a while Kim and Cuz got there so it was a quaint little house excursion. A few more people played music - libby and rachel, Ericka's Jive, Bitchcraft and Amathyst. They were all pretty good. The lead singer of Bitchcraft, Sim, had a top on that matched my underwear so after the show Cuz and i went and showed her. We got a photo of the matching attire and then Sim showed us her underwear - we got a photo of that too.


After the bands had played a Dj stepped up and played some. My friend Astrid and i got into a balloon war which ended in me having a bleeding lip. it was all a bit hardcore. chicks dig scars.

We left Morrow Park Bowlo and headed across a field and up the road to the gateway hotel. Hung out there until about 3ish playing with those spinning top things you get in chip packets.
today i slept till 2ish.....went to beaumont st to get some grocery items....came home...cooked *rice* and made special snack rice....had a nap......and that pretty much it.

show day

Next Friday (5th March) is the first day of the Newcastle Show so there is no tafe because of 'show day'. It makes me laugh, although it's sort of good because now i can go to sydney on the thursday and work for the day on friday. My old health outreach work place accidently paid me for 6 hours work instead of paying the person that actually worked so now i owe them 6hours. i could have just money ordered the money back to them but on top of what they have already paid me they are going to pay me for the 4 hours travel i will have to do to get there and back. swell.

days

a while has passed since i last blogged but not a lot of interesting stuff has happened really. tafe started back on the 9th so i've pretty much just been here. i don't have the net at home at the moment which is annoying but i might grab some pre-paid this arvo. windows keeps informing me i have to register xp. bah.
i'm on break from sculpture at the moment. i have balsa wood wood dried on my finger tips - it will be fun to peel off later on. everyone keeps complaining about working with balsa wood but i think its rather neat.
ryan, my mashed potato eating has been wuite lonely..... i make one potato at a time.
kaia....i am blogging, happy? i am making your cd still.. its taking a while because i keep getting distracted.
i filmed a train going through the crossing last night and it looks pretty cool.
i am trying to convince the parents to pay for me to come down to tassie with them in april but they are still unsure as to whether they are actually going to go. bleh.

so ..in hornsby today so i thought i'd use the folks computer and update my blog.
there's a blackout in from hornsby to thornleigh but luckily my parents have a backup power supply for the computers.. speaking of computers i might be picking up my new computer tomorrow which would be fun. yay.

finally i am able to post...
i haven't got the internet at the moment so i've been eating and sleeping a lot to make up for it.
i haven't really done much. Kim (one of my new housemates) and i got a 5 week old dwarf rabbit two days ago. it's a boy and it's name is sebastian. i've just been building it a hutch. i hit one of my fingers with the hammer and its still quite painful.
oh. the new house has been good. had a housewarming yesterday and managed to fit about 6/7 people in the spa. no water but it was still fun (fully clothed fun )
i have been mucking about with adam's old computer but it only has 2GB on it so it really struggles to do anything besides just sitting there. hmmm..... well i have to go put away tools now.

Last night i made a blog for my individual project for Comtemporary art practices. It's all about what i had in my pockets yesterday. I only realised this morning that it was feeding through to the blog water hole, which might get annoying because it will stay the same post unless i start going through my jacket pockets and bag pockets etc. i'll see how i feel.
I woke up at 5:30am this morning to go watch Amy teach figure skating in Warners Bay. I thought i had dressed warm enough and told Amy i didn't need the spare jacket she had brought for me because i was tough..... she was teaching for about 2hrs and i froze my ass off!!!! apparently i went a bit blue. After she had finished teaching she got me onto the ice. I was really stiff at first because i think all the blood in my legs was frozen....also i hadn't been on the ice in about two years. It took me a while but i got used to it. I had forgotten how much i enjoy it.
I am going to sydney for the weekend so i have to catch something soon - a train hopefully but it might be a bus if they've got trackwork on again.
I think sitting in that big fridge has given me a cold. I feel all sinusy....oh well, it's getting sunny so hopefully i'll defrost soon.

Miraculous Mellops

For months and months, possibly even a year i have been trying to remember the name of that show. Then, finally, this morning i decided to ask Ryan one more time if he remembered the show... i said "ok, there was a man that sort of looked like Alf Stuart from Home and Away.....and there are children..." and then Ryan jumped in with "Miraculous Mellops!"
Straight away i looked it up on google......not much luck though so i turned to the trusty imdb and
there it was.

skittles and condoms

jara called me yesterday to ask if i'd sent him a package in the mail.
i hadn't and asked why he thought it was me. he said that inside the package was a packet of skittles and a packets of condoms. he thought of me because of the skittles. we used to eat skittle all the time. never ate any condoms though. he was a bit weirded out that it wasn't me because it wasn't just a normal packet of condoms, they came with chocolate body paint as well.
i am really curious now as to who sent them to him. i sort of wish i had now becaue it's pretty funny.

this afternoon i had a really yummy swim at the beach. cuz, simone, lisa, coral and i headed over to Nobby's. first when we got in is was really cold but we soon got used to it - after our limbs went numb...
i stayed in for quite some time, it was such a beautiful afternoon, i just wanted to float on the water and sleep. i felt so free and light.

mint jelly

ryan and i did the shopping this afternoon. we left at about 5pm and got there at 5:30 - the bus takes a very indirect route to coles. the bus to come home was at 6:19 so we did a very quick zooming shop and then packed all the shopping into my backback and my big travel pack. we left coles and it was only 6:13 so i went to a take away shop and bought a coke. we walked outside at 6:15 and saw the bus had already got to the bus stop which was about 30m away, so we though 'we'll run up the road to the next one' so we ran, ryan went the wrong way and then all the traffic confused us , we finally crossed one road and then had to cross another but the lights changed and suddenly we were stranded in the middle of a road, the bus was coming and we pondered crossing in front of it but then realised it probably wasn't a good idea - it was dark and we weren't wearing anything particulary bright so we might have got run over, we want back to the side we'd come from and ran a bit more, ryan, with the travel pack on his back full of grocery's starting jumping up and down on the side of the road in an effort to get the bus to stop........and it did, about 20ms further up the road, so we ran again and got to the bus and the driver was so brilliantly nice to us. there was only one other person on the bus so we didn't feel too bad about holding it up.
so when we got home we unpacked the shopping and decided that we'd make roast vegies for dinner. we cut up potatoes, carrot, kumera and pumpkin. i looked in the fridge and found there wasn't much mint jelly left in the jar so i walked down the street to iga to get some. when i came back i sat down at the computer and wondered if there was a mintjelly.com and there was!!!! AND it's another MT blog - how strange is that? I haven't read much of it yet but from what i've read it's pretty good.

i emailed her yesterday but didn't think she'd reply, real estate agents don't so why should comic strip people?
