three bills in three days - the system is shite.

erin [05:55 PM] Comments (0)

it's quite cold here today. the heater doesn't warm the room, it just wastes electricity...which reminds me, we got a big bill today.
the only ways to get warm is layering but then your can't even move around without looking like a sumo wrestler.

well, i have been doing a lot of things lately. the main one has been having the flu. this hasn't been the most exciting thing to do but it's free and so i can't complain.
i have also been going to tafe which has been good too. i missed one class with 'that paul guy' because i was feeling too sick and didn't think i could cope sitting at those individual seat desk chair things.....

(To the tune of 'Guantanamera' gone wrong)

A Seedy Love Story

I'm going to tell you a story
That's neither gruesome nor gory
About a boy in the farmland
He was but a simple farmhand
He gazed into the sky blue above
And dreamed of meeting his true love

Chorus:
He wanted to meet her
Oh how he wanted to meet her
Wanted to meet her
Oh how he wanted to meet her

He'd seen her only from behind
While standing in the check-out line
Her hair was long fine and golden
Her beauty had him beholden
She smelt of oils exotic
It made her seem so erotic

Chorus:
He wanted to meet her
Oh how he wanted to meet her
Wanted to meet her
Oh how he wanted to meet her

He knew if he could impress her
Then may he could undress her
Because he was a great farmer
He knew just how to charm her
He'd grow a special surprise for her
Then she'd know that he adored her

Chorus:
He grew a one tonne tomato
He grew a one tonne tomato
One tonne tomato
He grew a one tonne tomato

Then he bribed the local mailman
Who went and showed him her mailcan
He waited till the dead of night
Then drove to her house on his plight
He put the tomato on her porch above
The note attached told of his true love

Chorus:
He left his one tonne tomato
He left his one tonne tomato
One tonne tomato
He left his one tonne tomato

Well it's been over a year now
And still the laugher you hear now
As folks recall all the drama
Of the young girl and the farmer
And of what happened the next week
When the tomato began to leak

Chorus:
It was a one tonne tomato
It was a one tonne tomato
One tonne tomato
It was a one tonne tomato

She'd been away on holiday
And come back home on that Sunday
To find her home grown all over
The farmer's note said he loved her
She was amazed how he'd figured it
That big tomatoes were her favourite

Chorus:
Of course she wanted to meet him
Oh yes she wanted to meet him
Wanted to meet him
Oh yes she wanted to meet him

They fell in love, then they married
A tomato bouquet she carried
Tomatoes cooked to perfection
Were served up at the reception
As they drove off they were showered
...Not with tomatoes but flowers!

Chorus:
Oh how they loved their tomatoes
They fell in love with tomatoes
They loved their tomatoes
And their love grows like tomatoes

And again:
One tonne tomato
He grew a one tonne tomato
One tonne tomato
He grew a one tonne tomato

i have some of fluey cold thing. i started to get it on sunday and last night it got real bad. i was awake for half the night coughing and sneezing and being either really hot or really cold. i feel like someone is driving a buring stake into the side of my head. my sinusses are sore, my nose is sore, and my jaw is so stiff i'm about to WD40 it.

i have a theory about getting our adsl to work...

when it suddenly disconnects we spend a very long 4mins tyring to enable it again...but just when you give up and think that you'll have to go watch tv or something, it decides to work. it's all about sneaking i think.... we just have to be sneaky and make it think we have absolutely no faith in it.

last night when we got home we couldn't get the screen door unlocked. it took us ten minutes of pulling, keying and levering with a spade to get it unlocked.
after the first few minutes we were starting to think we would have to go sleep in the park or scale the side of the building to get in one of the windows.
i fiddled with the key in the whole so much i think i got key-burn. it was really windy and cold outside too - and dark.

we're going to go to charlestown square tonight - ryan's first time, how exciting, we'll be safe though.
charlestown square must be the most confusing shopping centre on the planet...the layout is horrible... but i guess getting lost sometimes can be fun. is ryan has his camera we can take some excursion shots and i'll post 'em on here,

a funny thing happened yesterday. we were taking photo's of eachother at tafe so our teacher could learn our names. Terry was sitting about to get his picture taken by peta, and peta was getting ready to take the picture. as she looked through the viewfinder she exclaimed in the most innocent voice 'oh terry, you're so big!'
laughs were had all around. we were still joking about it today.
today everyone in my class was a bit pissed off because they've changed our theory teacher from linda to some paul guy who likes talking about apple macs (silly man). we hadn't heard anything about this change last term and the worst thing is that linda hadn't even been told about it. they'd dropped her down to a 5hr week without even talking to her about it. big tafe bastards!
it's rather screwed. we hope somehow we can get her back but it doesn't look like it will happen.

we saw simone from aghs today - she lives in newie with her dad and stepmum. we had coffee, well i had a rasberry italian soda but lets not go into too many details.
she came back for a chat and then when she left natalie, ryan and i made a big pot of kumera and pumpkin soup.
ryan spent most of the day fiddling with network cards and stuff. still know luck with the networking and adsl - well on our computer anyway.
after we made the soup we had a late lunch. ryan had his first cup-a-soup and i think he liked it.
after that we walked to officeworks and we got a new network card - we hope it might solve our technical difficulties.
we spent the rest of the evening playing harry potter uno, playing trouble and watching the big bite.
natalie and ryan are having a discussion about god and stuff.... i'm just sitting here on ryan's little ikea stoll blogging. my back hurts.

To blog or not to blog that is the question - apologies to Wilfred Shakespeare

my name is almost the same as Kaia I think I should be granted access to view her blogs & make all sorts of assumptions & comments too

I watched My Life as a House again last night, I was thinking about what sort of house I would choose to be if I viewed myself that way & decided a house would make me look too fat - I'd have to be a studio apartment instead

kay [03:30 PM] Comments (2)

i find it funny that people can't take ten seconds to comment. but i guess perhaps i'm not posting comment worthy stuff. i know some of you comment all the time and that's really tops...... but other people just can't be bothered.
maybe people are scared to comment. maybe they think i'll track them down and kill them......

don't worry, i would never do that..

erin [03:04 PM] Comments (4)

i'm going to see if i can encourage natalie to blog again. it will be hard work because she doesn't like computers very much.

erin [03:01 PM] Comments (2)

i think kaia's blog is very good. it's very honest and i think that might be why she doesn't want everyone to read it yet. she doesn't even name names in it which is very good of her, not that she says awful things about people, but she has respect for those she blogs about.
i think her decision to keep it undercover for the moment is something everyone should respect and when the time comes for her blog to be known, it will be a very grand day.

being lazy is fantastic. i managed to spend the whole entire day yesterday in my pj's. it was brilliant. i think it's even more brilliant being able to spend an entire day inside without having to go outside for anything. although i might have gone a bit out the back door to check for mail.
speaking of mail, today i got about 5 letters just for me!!!! it was fantastic. most of them were tax related but none were bills. one was my tafe results for subjects ending last term.

we didn't end up going to the potten's for lunch, we went to charlestown square instead. i bought some new butt ugly martian toys, a shirt, and some anime videos.
when we got home i looked at the microwave and saw that the bug has managed to get out of the clockspace. yay for the bug.

also, we made an executive decision to stop being on the soup diet. *sigh*

erin [06:49 PM] Comments (1)

today we're allowed to eat soup and banana smoothies. we're cheating because we're going to the Potten's house for lunch and i think we might even eat some bread.... ooooooh
the bug is still trapped in the microwave.....i figure it can just stay there until it get's itself out. It's not really doing any harm.
last night i watched some of wintersleepers. i like german films so it already had a few stars with me. i don't think the plot is terribly exciting but the snowy mountain backdrops and greys of the roads and forrests are beautiful. the soundtrack is also great, i've owned it for a while now but hadn't seen the movie again until last night so it was odd hearing the songs again in a soundtracky sort of way. like, in the movie there are great songs but they don't play them for long enough..... i guess that's all part of the film though.

the mt manual isn't very helpful.

erin [06:34 PM] Comments (0)

Sheer stupidity ????
I once asked a friend of mine if a bug knew it was going to be squashed just before I crushed one, I said do you think they see a white light befor everything goes black & then they feel themselves getting crushed - you see I'd scrunch up a ball of white toilet paper & use it to crush the bug, anyway he said as a bug's brain was smaller than a pinhead he didn't think so
When I was flatting on my own I found a giant tarantula spider in my kitchen, I got the chap from upstairs (a meterologist) to come & kill it for me he picked up my egg-lift & flattened the spider - I never ate eggs again after that...

kay [03:43 PM] Comments (0)

imagine you are looking at a microwave.
see the little bit where the time is displayed? see how there's a bit of perspex about 5mm in front of the clock bit? OK now explain to me how a bug could crawl into that little space and be STUCK in there......

why are you doing this soup diet anyway ?? it is not as though you so faaat that you need such a drastic weight loss program, besides you eat lots of soup as it is
I went to Penfolds today & bought myself a gorgeous red filofax just a small one it was on sale too, I tried not to carry too much by using a slim diary but it has ended up having 30 post it notes stuck in it, I also have an entry on sunday 2nd of august that reads '9AM' but I have no idea what this means...

I'm still getting used to looking at this format - can't I make a new entry whilst I can see the last entry ???

i have to go back to sydney to work on tuesday. i think i might go down monday morning and play for a bit. i might see tamara, i'd like to anyway, she seems quite busy. i might go to chatswood to pick up some nuts for natalie. we diccovered a very nice nut shop last week that only has one store. it's a pitty, i think if they had a chain they would do really well. the nuts are expensive but worth it. and all australian too. at the moment i think the plan is to come home tuesday night but i migth come back wednesday if i'm too tired from bowling.

Well we finally got rid of the freeloaders - oh sorry I meant to say the darling girls, it is rather fabo to have Casa Kowalski return to the relative calm & tranquility of two old curmudgeons & one neurotic dog that we have become,
even if it is somewhat crumbling around us...
I like having people around but I also like my solitude I think it's a reflection of growing up with 7 people in one little house - too claustrophobic for me. I read about this chap who each wednesday for the whole of his life refused to talk to anyone for the entire day - isn't that great, that really appeals to me, perhaps I should try it out next week & wear a sign around my neck 'Nil By Mouth'
I also get a bit melancholy when the girls leave too...ahh well c'est la vie n'est pas???

i know i haven't experienced the whole day yet but i think i'll write about it now anyway.
we slept in until 11:15 and had some breakfast. kaz has gone out for a while and kay has gone to the gym.
natalie's been reading the paper and i have been blogging.
i think we'll just stay home today, unless we get any incredibly exciting offers (that don't cost anything because we've run out of money). we might watch some more red dwarf or a movie or something. kay is bringing us home some caramel popcorn.
i wanted to see tamara today but she's busy until 9pm.

yesterday was fun. we went to wahroonga and visited ki at work. i saw john, lady moore and mrs rochester, they are so sweet. we then met ryan, jem and chris at wahroonga park and ate homemade wedges from chookas. very yummy, the best wedges in sydney. we played with the new sopft purple frisbee for a while, we thought a little toddler was going to join in but she just picked it up and started to walk away. it's ok, we got it back. no tears either.
we met up with kat, adam, claire and ...... at the scary clock in hornsby and had some coffee from starbuck's. the coffee at starbuck's isn't very good. kat and claire went home and adam and........ went to a party. we went to toscani's and i had pumpkin soup and natalie had vegetarian lasagna. afterwards we went to lesley's house and played tabboo, consequense and charades. it was very funny.

got up. i missed Yu Gi Oh. watched bear in the big blue house. natalie went to have brunch with kate stokes. i listened to some cafe del mar. i got a call from natalie asking me to meet her in hornsby. i went. we walked around. we bumped into adam and jamie. we got some lunch. ki came to join us. we saw my twin cousins, they had just got new jobs with optus. we walked around a bit more and kate went home. kaia went to meet up with dana. i saw my mum for a bit. we went to my house for an hour and then caught a train to epping and went to the murray's for dinner. we had thai from the thai place. dan and i had french red wine. very fruity, not much depth, but drinkable.
we went and sat in the room with the fire. we talked about lots of things including funny names. like Ophelia crotch.
we came back to hornsby heights.
bedtime.

yesterday.
we spent the morning watching abc shows and huddling in front of the heater. kaia picked us up at about 12 and we went into hornsby for some lunch. ki and i had indian and natalie had sort sort of chicken sandwich thing. the bread looked good. i bought some shoes. they are nice but still quite tough and need some wearing in.
we then went back to good old pretoria parade and mucked about until 4pm when we met bec at Insomnia. while trying to find a park i saw the anna again - the girl i don't really know. freaky. we spent a long time at insomnia, only because we were waiting for my herb bread that jordan forgot i ordered.
we got a lift back to natalie's place and spent the evening in.

today we went to chatswood.
it was an awful day to be outside, but we went anyway. i had to pick up some copperplate nibs for a lady at tafe at a shop called wills quills. it was about 7 blocks down vistoria ave from the station which doesn't sound that far but it was pouring with rain and there were puddles of deep water everywhere. by the end of the journey my shoes and socks were soaked and from the knees down my jeans were dripping wet.
we found a chookas chicken shop, like the one in wahroonga, so we stopped for some homemade wedges..... they were very yummy.
natalie's quest today was to find a winter coat, mine was to buy some shoes. we walked everywhere in chatswood and left with only a couple of butt ugly martian toys i picked up from target. we made our way back to hornsby where we met up with a friend from school. it was nice to see her and we had some lunch. afterwards we looked again for coats and shoes. natalie found a very nice coat and bought it. i didn't buy any shoes. the ones i liked were not stocked in my size and the ones i really liked were to expensive.

monday.....we....oh that's it, we went into hornsby for a bit and managed to bump into a whole bunch of people. we met jana for lunch which was nice and then we saw kelly and khori. we hung around the shops for a bit and then natalie went home and i loitered around until 6:30 when i met up with kay who took me to Fernwood. it's a very nice gym and i managed to keep up eventhough i hadn't been gyming in about a year.
today natalie and i went into the city. we ate a lot of yummy food, visited niki, and i bought a jacket (after a very long search.....) we walked from pitt st mall up to darlinghurst and looked at a lot of nice clothes we (well i) will never be able to afford. shopping is really depressing when you're poor. it's like being vegan and visiting a chocolate factory.
money isn't everything but having nice things makes you feel special. and without money you can't buy nice things and therefore you don't feel special. i guess feeling special isn't everything but when you come to terms with the fact that the world is not a very nice place you need something to cheer you up, i mean friends can't be there all the time but a nice pair of pants or a new cd can be.
i try not to get caught up in this material world but it's very hard. i am a material girl, even if i don't want to be.
